Confronting HR challenges in Germany

Employment contracts, onboarding, health insurance, occupational health & safety, parental leave, maternity leave, job references, termination and offboarding… The strict labor laws and statutory frameworks in Germany pose numerous hurdles for international companies. They face the challenge of comprehending these requirements, fulfilling them and incorporating them into all relevant processes.

In addition, cultural and social conditions in Germany may differ in varying degrees from those in the companies’ countries of origin. International companies must also take these factors into account when establishing a branch in Germany.

FAQ:

Public holidays are set by federal law or by the individual federal states (Bundesländer). They are determined as fixed calendar dates and if they fall on a weekend, then they are not carried over to a weekday.

In Germany maternity leave and parental leave are regulated by several laws ((Mutterschutzgesetz (MuSchG), Federal Parental Allowance and Parental Leave Act (Bundeselterngeld- und Elternzeitgesetz (BEEG)). These cover a wide range of topics, such as extended protection against dismissal and financial subsidies.

In order to manage the detailed and sometimes complex stipulations by the maternity and parental leave regulations, HR Services are available to provide step by step guidance and in-depth expertise to support a wide range of client queries in relation to these topics.

HR Services provide flexible, transparent and competitive fee structures either on an hourly rate basis for ad hoc support, or as a tailored project-based package. We also offer retainer fees, designed for clients with regular query volumes.
